Blog Post #9: "Speak" Differences

The book took us weeks to read, but we were able to watch the movie in 1.5 hours. A lot had to be changed/edited/cut and sometimes added in order to change the book into a film.

Please share differences that you noticed. Your differences (2-3) MUST BE DIFFERENT THAN YOUR CLASSMATES.

1. Think about characters, descriptions, plot, scenes, visualizations and quotations.
2. What was different?
3. How was it different?
4. Why do you think the director and the screenwriter changed the book for the film?
5. Did this help to make the story better or worse?

Finally...
7. Everyone is a different learner. Did you enjoy reading the story, and imaging the events in your head? Or, did you prefer watching the movie? Why?
8. In your opinion, why was better, the book or the movie? Why?

As always, 20 complete sentences. Write in Microsoft Word, check your grammar and spelling before copying and pasting it to the blog.

Due: Wednesday at midnight.

I look forward to reading your thoughts and insights!

Blog Post #8: MP3 Quote

Hello!

Please look through Marking Period 3 in our book. I want you to explain a quote using many different reading strategies. No one can use the same quote! Be unique!

1. Find a quote that you think is very important from Marking Period 3. Perhaps something that Melinda thought, something that Mr. Freeman said, or something that another character said.
2. Post the quote AND page number in your response.
3. Use all of the different reading strategies to help explain this quote:

  • Why did you pick this quote?
  • What does it mean? (infer, synthesize)
  • Why is it important? What is the significance? (importance)
  • How can this quote help you in your life? What did you learn from it? How can you connect to it? (connection)
  • What do you visualize when you read this quote? (visualization)

This blog should be at least 20 sentences.
Please type in a Word Document to check your spelling, grammar and to save your work.
I realize that your book may be at school, so it is not due until Tuesday, March 20th.
No late blogs accepted. Do not wait until the last minute to post.

Looking forward to reading your analysis of the quote that you chose.

4. What is your favorite reading strategy, and why?
5. What will you work on for next time?

Remember - spelling and grammar count. Write, save and check in Microsoft Word. 20 Sentences minimum.

Your answers should look and sound different from your classmates. If you simply copy or paraphrase another's post, you will receive no credit.

Due: Monday, March 5. Reminder: If you send it on Tuesday, YOU WILL NOT RECEIVE CREDIT.
